Alberta Weather
Weather in the Rocky Mountains varies a tremendous amount – literally from one valley to the next and from one hour to the next. There also is a large variation between daytime and night time temperatures. Alberta's cool winter climate is a result of its northern location, in contrast, summers are usually warm. Regardless of the season, the sun shines throughout the cold winters and warm summers. Alberta is famous for its chinook winds, which sweep into southern Alberta several times each winter which can rapidly melt snow. Summer Temperature (June to August) are 15C to 23C; Winter Temperature (November to February) are -8C to -25C.
Getting there
Both Calgary and Edmonton have international airports. Calgary's serves as the base of low-priced airline Westjet, which provides service to North American, Mexican and Caribbean destinations. Edmonton's International Service is provided by multiple carriers at both locations, including multiple direct flights to London and Frankfurt each day and Hong Kong, other destinations are usually connecting through Vancouver or Toronto. Both airports act as collection points, Calgary for the prairie provinces, and Edmonton for regions in the Canadian North.
