Louisianas Mississippi Valley is one of the most attractive areas of the USA. Visitors from around the world are once again flocking to New Orleans, its largest city and one of the country's major tourist destinations, to experience the city's traditional toe-tapping Dixieland jazz music, to dine on Cajun cuisine. Other places to see in the state include Lafayette, a city of magnificent gardens; the Atchafalaya Basin, the largest and most remote swamp in the USA and the huge salt domes of Avery. Louisiana's distinctive, spicy cuisine, and, above all, its music draw from different cultures.
Weather in Louisiana
Louisiana's climate usually remains constant, with semi-tropical conditions throughout the year. Those parts of the state that are in close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico tend to be very humid and little difference between summer and winter conditions. New Orleans is hot and humid with well over 180 days of sunshine annually. Some snowfall can occur in the state in winter, but very rarely.
