Le Moulin des Comtes (the counts mill) is an former watermill, situated on its sloping grounds of some 10 acres along the river Ance. It truly is a beautiful place, far from the hustle and bustle of daily life and surrounded by unspoiled nature. Here, in this lovely sheltered valley, we enjoy a very favorable microclimate, especially because the house is bordered by woods and built close to a rocky cliff. Le Moulin des Comtes consists of three interlinked houses. In one of those houses we live ourselves, the other two are rented out as holiday cottages. In the recent years we have worked hard to fully refurbish the two cottages and now they are very comfortable and fully equipped. Our domain consists mostly of gently rolling meadows and woods. As said before, the river Ance runs close by, clean and untouched, in which freshwater mussels and sweet water crayfish occur. Across our property runs the former watercourse of the mill, now a brook with a waterfall. This waterfall is often the only sound we hear... On the ten acres surrounding the Moulin our horses stray, as well as our cat Suus and the chicken. In the area, there are more than 70 species of birds spotted (by us and our guests) and we see occasionally hares, deer and wild boar. There is no through traffic as we live on a dead end road In the cottage you will find a spacious living room with a well equipped kitchen: stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, all utensils etc. There is a sitting area with television and DVD player. There are three bedrooms: one double, one with twin beds and private shower/washbasin and a third bedroom with twin beds. The beds are of very good quality and are really comfortable. The twin beds can be separated. Bed and bath linen is luxurious and its use is included in the rent. There is a bathroom with washbasin, bathtub and toilet and there is a another, separate toilet. You have a large private terrace with sunshade, garden furniture and BBQ.

Le Moulin des Comtes is situated right on the river Ance. Here, the river forms the boundary between two departments: Puy-de-Dôme and Loire. These departments are each in a different region, the Puy-de-Dome is part of the Auvergne region, while Loire lies in Rhone-Alpes. We live on the edge of the Regional Natural Park Livradois-Forez, and within the area Haut-Forez. And, if you agree with us that the South of France starts ‘at Lyon’, then we live just about 50 km in southern France. The local tourist office promotes the valley of the Ance as a separate area (le Vallée de l'Ance). The Vallée de l'Ance is an unknown and untouched nature area, in the Ance live freshwater mussels and crayfish, a sure sign of very clean water. Trout fishing is very popular. Because of this setting "in the midst of everything" the surroundings of Le Moulin des Comtes are very diverse, offering many opportunities, both sportive and cultural. The area is a hilly upland, it varies in altitude from 500 to over 1600 meters with a pleasant blend of small-scale agriculture, forests and mountains. It is one great feast for hikers, mountain bikers, (racing) cyclists, skiers and nature lovers in a general sense. Everywhere there are beautiful flowers and (predatory) birds and our 10 acres site is regularly visited by roes and hares. This is a perfect area to relax and enjoy nature. Le Moulin des Comtes is at an altitude of over 800 meters so the summer nights are cool.

Rental notes: a tourist tax of € 0.75 per day per person from 12 yoa is applicable. End cleaning is included, so is the use of sheets and towels. Check-in from 4 PM Check-out before 10 AM

There is a large table with 6 chairs. There are three bedrooms: one double, one with twin beds and private shower/washbasin and a third bedroom with twin beds. The beds are of very good quality and are really comfortable. The twin beds can be separated. Bed and bath linen is luxurious and its use is included in the rent. There is a large bathroom with washbasin, walk in shower and toilet and there is a another, separate toilet.

Outside Area:Le Moulin des Comtes consists of three interlinked houses. In one of those houses we live ourselves, the other two are our holiday cottages. You will have a large sunny and private terrace with sunshade, enough garden furniture and BBQ. The view from the terrace is onto the gently rolling meadows and woods of our domain. The river Ance runs close by, clean and untouched, in which freshwater mussels and sweet water crayfish occur. Across our property runs the former watercourse of the mill, now a brook with a waterfall. This waterfall will often be the only sound that you'll hear... On the ten acres surrounding the Moulin our horses stray, as well as our cat and the chickens. In the area, there are more than 70 species of birds spotted (by us and our guests) and we see occasionally hares, deer or wild boar. There is no through traffic as we live on a dead end road with no other houses. Only the postman comes along almost daily and in winter, if necessary, the snow plow. In the season there are wild flowers everywhere, butterflies and crickets provide some movement. And then there is peace and quiet, and nothing else...
