Ultra modern inside, exterior traditional design Turkish Cottage

We moved to the village of Nif-Arpacik in 2009, where we built our present home. We have developed a small organic farm and smallholding. We have also created a donkey sanctuary, for the growing number of abandoned animals in the area. We bought a field five minutes walk from our home, so that we could develop a meadow to graze the animals and grow and cut hay in season. The field had two derelict village houses on it. Because of the varied types of trees on the property, we have called the field Cevizli Bache (pronunced Jeviz), or the Walnut Garden. Because of one of the trees in Cevizli Bahce, we called this cottage Incir Evi (pronounced Injeer Cottage) or the Fig House. We have up loaded a couple of photos of the building the day we bought the property back in June 2011. It was a very basic block built village cottage, with a kitchen, one bedroom and a living room, which had been abandoned for roughly 50-60 years ! We had a really good think about what we wanted to do with this cottage and, in a total break with Sakli Vadi tradition, we decided to make this our first totally contemporary cottage, but only on the inside !!! The exterior remained as a traditional Arpacik village cottage. Inside, it is ultra modern and as the cottage is on one level, we have designed it to be wheelchair friendly. The old roof was removed and we replaced the old woodwork with locally grown cedar. There is a large salon, kitchen-dining room, with double sliding glass doors leading to the master double bedroom. Off the bedroom, is the large shower/wet room, designed to accommodate wheelchairs. Outside is a pergola, which shades two sides of the cottage.

Views:Farming community with spectacular mountain views

Nif-Arpacik village is 40 minutes drive from Fethiye, on the coast. The village is 1,050 metres above sea level. The village is located in a bowl of mountains that creates a micro climate. This climate is ideal for growing cherries. The cherries are not just any cherries. The valley grows the world famous Napoleon cherries, which are exported all over Europe. The centre of the village is 3 kilometres from the cottage. There are two small market shops that sell basic provisions, one of which sells alcohol. There is a small village restaurant that sells local pide (Turkish pizzas) and a limited general menu. There is a village bakery which operates a wood fired stone oven. The bread is to die for !! Sandy is an excellent cook. We offer our guests a two course, evening meal service, delivered to your cottage, at £10.00 per head. The cottage is located in a working farming community. The views are stunning. The cottage is in a valley dominated by the highest mountain in the Mugla region, which is called Cal Dag (pronounced Chal Dar). The mountain soares to 2,300 metres above sea level. Sandy and Jon are the only Europeans in the village. The villagers are very friendly and helpful, especially if you are willing to try a bit of basic Turkish. The location is ideal for those who are looking for a totally quiet, peaceful, get away from it all holiday. Incir Evi is ideal for those who enjoy stunning scenery, the noise of tractors and farm animals and total relaxation.

Rental notes: We request a 50% down payment from all our clients to confirm and secure their bookings. Payment of the balance is required one month prior to clients arriving for their holiday, please. Once down payments and balances are paid, both are non refundable. The reason for this is that once a deposit is paid, all other bookings for the cottage for the same period will be declined. Thank you for your understanding. Inside, the cottage is totally contemporary and modern. The cottage is on one level and is designed to be totally wheelchair friendly. The main salon is a combined kitchen/salon. This main room has a fully fitted kitchen, with a large upright fridge freezer, gas/electric hob, electric oven, microwave oven and toaster. Leading off the salon, through a sliding glass door, is the double bedroom. The sleeping arrangements are totally flexible. There are two single beds, that can be locked together to make a double. Our thinking with this arrangement is that it is ideal for couples and lovers. For clients using wheelchairs, who have carers, the beds can be divided. Accessed through double glass doors off the bedroom is the wet room. This has a low level w/c, heated towel rail and shower. Cevizli Bahce is a television and internet free zone. For clients that require internet access, we have wifi at our home, which they pop up and use. At the cottage, we have installed a flat screen television with a DVD player. We have a an extensive DVD library at the cottage and at our home, which our clients can choose from. There is a docking station with stereo speakers at the cottage for MP3's or iPods. There are several card and board games at the cottage and we also have a large book library. The deal is "take a book, leave a book' !! The colour scheme is black and white throughout. There is a steam iron, ironing board and access to a washing machine. The cottage has a wood burning stove for visitors staying in the winter and electric fans for the summer.

Outside Area:The exterior remains a traditional village cottage. Outside there is a pergola, which shades two sides of the cottage. the cottage overlooks farmed fields and wonderful forested mountains - wonderful !! The front french doors open onto the terrace and faces west. The terrace is the ideal place to quaff those early evening sundowners. On the terrace there are sun loungers to relax on and a glass topped dining table and chairs.
