Santa Barbara Victorian townhouse rental - California holiday home

On this property there are 2 units, which we rent as vacation rentals: ** In the duplex, at the rear of the property, there are two Townhouses. We are conveniently located on de la Vina Street, in a quiet residential area near the corner of Micheltorena. A 2 block walk east will take you to State Street near the famous Arlington Theatre. It's an easy 1.5 mile walk down State Street past restaurants, shops and theaters to Stearns Wharf, which separates East Beach from West Beach. During major holidays and Fiesta you can walk to State Street to watch one of the fantastic parades, the arrival of Santa Claus and the lighting of the Christmas tree, or enjoy the festival atmosphere so characteristic of downtown Santa Barbara. Your "home away from home" will be awaiting you away from the hubub of State Street when you return.

Walking distance to downtown and the beach: -- 2 block to State Street, Arlington Theatre, restaurants, shops -- 1.5 miles to Stearns Wharf, East and West Beach, Maritime Museum, oceanside restaurants Driving distances: -- 30 scenic miles along Rte 154 through the hills of the Los Padres National Forest, past Lake Cachuma to the Danish village of Solvang; and on a few more miles to Buellton for Andersen's famous pea soup and other good food -- 30 scenic miles south on Rte 101 along the ocean to Ventura/Oxnard -- 120 scenic miles north on Rte 101 through wine country to Hearst Castle -- 90 miles (some scenic, some not so) south on Rte 101 to the San Fernando Valley/LA area.

Each townhouse is tastefully furnished with an eclectic mix of family heirlooms and new craftsman style furniture. Features include hand-inlaid wood floors, a bay window/window-seat, and a fireplace in the living room. Both units have decks. The "A" open-air 20x25 deck is furnished with a hot tub, a gas grill, a glass-topped wrought iron table with umbrella and 6 chairs, occasional seating and lounge chairs -- ideal for a BBQ, board games, and/or sunbathing. The "B" covered deck is cozily ensconced in the tower creating a wonderful outdoor room. Situated just off the kitchen, the deck can become a private retreat for morning coffee, an outdoor room that's just perfect for a luncheon, a bridge game, an intimate candlelit dinner, or a nightcap. These are 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath units, each on two floors, with sleeping capacity for up to 6. There is a king bed in the master; and twin beds in the second bedroom. The living room couch is a futon that can be made into a double bed. The two bedrooms are upstairs above the living area and have cathedral ceilings.

Outside Area:The cottage is a charming 140 year old home Queen Anne Victorian, one of Santa Barbara's oldest Victorians, which was built in the mid 1800`s. We restored the house in 1998 and added the duplex in 2001. We built the duplex in the same style as the main house. To create a welcoming entrance, we built a tower, complete with "witches cap", above the portico. To enter the building, you pass through a pair of glass French doors from the portico into the entrance foyer. You pass down a short hallway to a 1/2 flight of stairs. At the top of the stairs you can turn left to the "A" Unit or right to the "B" Unit.
