A “cortijo” is a small farm, or farmhouse. “Suerte” means luck, chance, fate or good fortune. It was our good fortune (or perhaps fate) to acquire this rustic farmhouse, and we hope that you will be fortunate enough to visit Cortijo la Suerte.

Views:Stunning mountains views. Very quiet valley, nearly absolute silence

Cortijo la Suerte is in the heart of Las Alpujarras, a protected environmental area where you can explore a huge variety of natural and cultural attractions. The region is overlooked by the Sierra Nevada (literally, the “Snowy Range”), and crowned by Mulhacén, Spain’s highest peak. This rugged and picturesque range is home to a variety of unique plants and animals. Culturally Las Alpujarras has a turbulent history and has been occupied by Tartessians, Visigoths, Romans and Moors. Its inaccessible valleys and steep slopes have given refuge to guerrilla fighters in a number of wars. The typical white villages of the Alpujarras are a cultural legacy of the Moors, as is the famous Alhambra palace in Granada. Likewise the extensive system of water irrigation channels (acequias) and water storages (alberquas) are inherited from the Moors.

Rental notes: The balance of the rent must be paid not later than four weeks before arrival.

On the upper floor, the spacious main bedroom has a double bed, washstand, picture windows and doors opening onto the terrace with stunning mountains views. The second bedroom has two single beds and the new bathroom next door, with washstand, bath and toilet. The bedrooms have floor heating for the cold times. Downstairs, a second bathroom has another toilet, a wash basin and an unusual semi-circular shower. While showering one can admire the view over the mountains and the village of Mecina. The living room has central heating and a cosy wood stove and an open kitchen with hot and cold water. The dining area has a table for eight persons, and the inventory is sufficient for such a group. A little separate apartment is situated next to the swimming pool with a nice hidden terrace between fruit trees and with beautiful views. It has a double bedroom with a small bathroom with shower and wash stand and a toilet outside.

Outside Area:The terrace on the main floor is covered and is the perfect place to stay on a hot summers day. From this terrace one has also wonderful views over the valley and the mountains. The Jacuzzi room enters into this terrace. The upper terrace is very sunny and best suited in spring and autumn. The terrace next to the pool is the favorite place to be in the swimming season. Due to the mountain climate, the pool is in operation from June till mid September
